What would you do if you were to awake from decades-long suspended animation, naked, while a video from your scientist father informs you that Earth is now a utopia that he probably hasn't lived to see, and by the way, you might be feeling disoriented and euphoric, so don't do anything rash? Well, if you were young and hot like Samantha (Kayden Kross), you might have a threeway with the first men you see, because you'd be too out of it to wonder what happened or why those naked men are there. That's the stimulating beginning to one of last year's best and most widely publicized releases, "The 8th Day" from Adam & Eve, now a winner of seven AVN Awards including Best Video Feature. Director Ren Savant (who plays the non-sex role of Sam's father) said upon accepting one of those trophies that making the film was an "almost legendary" undertaking. The good news is that the effort was worth it.
There's Sam, a vision of beauty getting spit-roasted. The first inkling of trouble comes a little over fifteen minutes in, with a flash of a grimy, slimy man-creature ravishing Sam. What did her dad's video say about disorientation? The hot sex continues as Sam thinks she's fucking Tommy Gunn and Aaron Wilcox. As Tommy shoots his cum on her great ass, she drinks Aaron's load. When she wakes from her postcoital nap to find herself on a bare mattress in the arms of a grimy, slimy man-creature while another one drools on her pretty leg, she understandably freaks out and watches the neo-cavemen fight to the death over her. Reality sets in as she finds all the equipment dead and a countdown reveals that it's eight days and a few hours to "Supercritical." She takes a moment to process the horror, then puts on some clothes that have been sealed in a bag and goes to see what fresh hell has befallen the world outside.
Sam emerges from the dried-up L.A. aqueduct and finds a wasteland, as if civilization tore itself and its material things apart. From the graffiti to the mannequin with a painted Styrofoam wig head mounted on its neck in a ruined storefront, great care was put into the authentic urban decay. Sam wanders through to the back of the store, following the voice of Edith Piaf (from a Victrola, because only obsolete technology works), and watches from the fire escape as a Mistress (Kylie Ireland in a wardrobe from beyond Thunderdome) orchestrates a spanking for her sexy slave (Jandi Lin) by the strapping Dirk (Derrick Pierce) and then decides to ride him herself, including lots of anal action. Just as they've finished, a violent gang attacks and Sam narrowly escapes, only to land in the clutches of a butcher named Kaisson (Tyler Knight).
The next morning, Sam finds herself cuffed to a wall as Kaisson and a shop owner talk about her like a piece of meat. Scavenger Mel (Amber Rayne, who wears the post-apocalyptic look better than anyone else in the movie) enters to get some water and notices Sam. While the shop owner is busy watching Kaisson scratching his itch with whore Krissy Leigh, Amber steals a few things and helps Sam escape. They're long gone by the time Kaisson has finished with the whore.
That night by the campfire, Mel finds out Sam isn't from this time and has no idea what's going on. Mel explains that before she was born, all electricity stopped one day and most people and animals got sick in a catastrophe called "the Big Burn," possibly caused by radioactivity. Mel's father used to joke that "on the 8th day, God played Etch-a-Sketch," with a shaking gesture. Those who survived were mostly infertile and mutated. As a result, humans have split into tribes according to mutation. Later, Mel wakes Sam from a nightmare because her screaming might alert a nearby tribal raiding party, who are celebrating a successful raid with a lesbian sex ritual. Mel and Sam can't move because this tribe sees well in the dark, so they watch the stunning Tori Black (AVN Female Performer of the Year), Bree Olson, and Poppy Morgan have a victory fuck. All three are naked and covered in tribal markings. Tori and Poppy circle Bree before the three become a howling, spitting, tangled mass of painted limbs, tongues on wet pussies, and groping hands in a fight for sexual dominance. At the height of the action, Poppy and Tori team up on Bree's pussy and asshole while Bree eats out Poppy beneath her. Later, they use a wooden dildo on Bree. The dim lighting, the girls' animalistic nature, and their feral-cat cries take it to a whole new level of eroticism. It's easy to see why this won an AVN Award for Best All-Girl Three-Way Sex Scene.
As the movie resumes in part two, Mel and Sam reach Elysium Fields, where they're going to meet the prince. Mel secures their entry with stolen Red Vines. Again, we see the care that went into creating a world for this film as the girls make their way through a bazaar. People are trading scavenged goods and sex, a tattoo artist is using an ancient hammering technique, and there's fresh produce. They're in time to hear the prince's sermon about how the Burn freed them from the noise and sloth brought about by technology. After the prince's diatribe Mel goes to meet him, leaving Sam to watch a live morality play – or more accurately, a sex show – in a tent, a threeway involving Darryl Hanah and a green-painted Violet Marcell teaming up on Evan Stone. Violet represents the snake, or technology, tempting Darryl and Evan, who are a neo-Adam and Eve. Even with quasi-religious imagery it's hot, especially if you like Darryl or green chicks.
The prince (Ameatabh Bachan) is watching naked women wrestling when Mel shows up with scavenged goods. It's clear Mel is in love with the prince. When he suggests she has the stink of technology on her and needs to be purged, she readily agrees, hoping he will be the one to "purge" her. Instead he sends her off with his lackeys (Cheyne Collins and Sledge Hammer). Mel's disappointment vanishes as she gets into an energetic tryst involving double penetration and anal fingercuffing. With their cum loads, she is cleansed. Although some might prefer the traditional beauty of other girls in the film, Amber is the most enthusiastic fucker in the cast and definitely the most natural actor.
Afterward, Mel finds Sam to tell her that the prince gave them a suite. Mel doesn't notice Kaisson walking away, after just trying without success to reclaim Sam. The first thing Sam wants is a bath, so there's a pretty bathing scene with the two girls, but no sex. They awake in the morning to find out they're to be dinner guests of the prince that night. When they get there, it turns out Kaisson is also a guest. The prince is intrigued by "Samantha Alexander without a tribe" and takes her back to his room during dinner, leaving heartbroken Mel commiserating with Kaisson, of all people, because he "stole" their girl. While a lusty and kinky orgy commences between Kaisson, Mel, a slave girl played by Trinity Post, Darryl, and other dinner guests, Sam finds out that Prince Amir has secrets – namely, he's a fraud. He too survived the Burn, and with nearly eternal youth. Prince Amir tells Sam about the role he played in her father's death, causing Sam enormous guilt and fear for her life. When the prince summons her the next day, Sam is willing to do anything to please him. It seems the Burn left him impotent, so instead of pleasuring him directly she will please him by putting on a show for him in his bed with Violet and Evan – and what a show it is. You can always expect the best from Evan, and with two such gorgeous and horny babes as this, they're enough to make you wonder if Prince Amir just likes torturing himself by watching what he can't have anymore. Kayden even outdoes her performance at the beginning of the film.
Sam and her new friends are resting peacefully on the prince's bed when one of his men barges in, having just heard through the grapevine that Sam is "the offspring of a scientist." Prince Amir, because he's a coward at heart who must protect his image, makes a show of telling everyone in the village who she is and that she will be put on display for all to "learn" from that night and thrown to the mercies of the desert at dawn. Mel, who's stayed drunk since the moment Prince Amir took Sam back to his room, watches from afar and realizes she's to blame – she's the one who told Kaisson who Sam is, and she sees Kaisson standing next to the prince as he makes the announcement. But she can't save Mel. In fact, none of it is about to matter, as the countdown to Supercritical will end that morning.
Kayden, Amber, and the rest of the cast display acting skills beyond what most porn asks of its performers. It's quite a long film, but this is that rare porno that actually has a plot that will hold your interest as well as great sex scenes with very hot performers. You owe it to yourself to see "The 8th Day" if only for proof that big-budget features are far from over in porn.
